History

In 1984, land was purchased to develop an airport at Gullknapp. A runway, 500 meters long, was soon ready.

Blakstad High School has used Gullknapp as an exercise area for its students and thus contributed greatly to the continuous development of the runway. The school has also helped build a road leading in to the airport.

In 2003, Arendal and Froland municipalities got more engaged in the airport. And since 2007, Arendals Fossekompani has been the majority shareholder.
